The sun rises first in India in the Dong Valley or Dong Valley in the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. Dong Valley is located in the area that shares the border with China and Myanmar. This small village in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh sees the first sunrise in India. After about two hours of trekking, you will reach Dong Valley. This is where the sun rises first in India. Sunrise here is at 2 am. This village is located on the eastern edge of India, close to the border of China and Myanmar.

This valley is located at the confluence of the Lohit and Sati rivers. Dong is a small village located at an altitude of about 1,240 meters above sea level. This village is located at a distance of about seven kilometers from Walong, at the confluence of the Lohit and Sati rivers.

The Land of India's First Sunrise In 1999, the Dong Valley was recognized as one of the first places in India to see the sunrise. This earned the village the nickname "Land of the Rising Sun". The sunrise in the Dong Valley during the Millennium Sunrise on January 1, 2000, gained world attention.

Breathtaking natural beauty

The scenic beauty of the Song Valley is one of the specialties of the Song Valley. The vast grasslands and dense pine trees make this valley even more beautiful. This place is also very exciting for bird watchers. More than 500 different species of birds can be seen in this valley. Many different birds like hornbills, red-billed ibis, yellow pigeons and many more can be seen here.

The Dong Valley is mainly inhabited by the Mayor tribe along with the Mishmi tribe.  Idu Mishmi, Digaru Mishmi, and Miju Mishmi are all part of the Mishmi tribe. Visitors can experience the traditions, daily life, and hospitality of these tribes.
